:: I Love a Good Find!

Sorry for my absence recently friends. It has been quite a busy month for me. First, I celebrated a birthday at the beginning of the month, which included having my family in from California. Then the weekend after my birthday we had a little belated shindig at the cottage along with house guests, which meant the newly functioning guest room was put to good use. Add that together with craziness at work, catching up on much needed spring cleaning and yard work, and I have been one busy gal.

Of course, I can never be too busy to do a little shopping and grazing (as I like to refer to my wandering through antique stores and flea markets). My latest find, which I am uber, uber excited about was not found in a vintage or thrift store at all. It actually was sitting kind of incognito, in the back corner of the Gordman's not too far from the house.

Yes, I snagged one of these awesome vintage apothecary style floor lamps (the more bronzey one, to be exact). Aren't they awesome?!

My apologies for the poor photo by the way, it was a quick iPhone snap - because this sweet find is actually sitting at work right now. That's right, it didn't quite make it home with me just yet. I showed this baby to my Art Director and she loved it just as much as me, so we are going to use it in an upcoming photo shoot.

Anyway, back to the exciting stuff. Pottery Barn and Restoration Hardware both make somewhat similar versions of this style lamp.

The Pottery Barn Newbury Halo Task lamp retails for $119.99 on sale, originally $199.99

This Restoration Hardware Rowan Pharmacy Task lamp rings in at a *holy cow* $549, marked down from $739

I'll take my $69.99 version, thank you.
I even had a 20% off coupon, so it really ended up being around $60 with tax.
Pretty darn good deal, I do think.

So, what do you guys think? You likey? Do you have a Gordman's near you? Because if so, you should check it out. The other store in Tulsa didn't have any of these and the other lamp in the photo won't stand up straight, so I guess I got lucky grabbing one when I did. :)

I hear you on being busy, Ashlee! This time of year just always seems to be that way with the warming weather, ensuing projects, yard sales, etc. I'm lucky to write one post a week right now.

What a lucky find in that lamp! I went to an antiques festival and scored a fantastic 1930s quilt for just $35 (when it was originally marked as $75 by the seller.) That was certainly the thrill of the sale for me.

Enjoy your lovely lamp and Happy Birthday!

:) I like how you write. A little humor always brings out the best in everyone of us. $69 sounds sweet. And being a serial DIY-er, I'd die paying those 199.
